Mahesh Goud: BC bill proves Congress’ commitment to welfare; BRS, BJP spreading lies

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLA Mahesh Kumar Goud asserted the commitment of the Congress party in fulfilling its promise of Backward Classes reservation.

Goud sharply criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party and Bharat Rashtra Samithi for spreading a misinformation campaign against the State government.

Goud said, “The implementation of the Backward Class reservation is clear evidence of implementation and unwavering commitment to the Backward Classes welfare of the Congress party.”

Telangana caste survey

He asserted that only the Congress Party can deliver on its promises.

“The Congress Party’s commitment to BC Reservations has been proven once again,” Goud stated. “We conducted a caste survey in the state, unprecedented anywhere else in the country, under the guidance of Rahul Gandhi and the supervision of CM Revanth Reddy and his ministerial team. This survey was carried out transparently."

He challenged BJP leaders—including MPs Eatala Rajender, Bandi Sanjay and Arvind Dharmapuri to demonstrate their courage by questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the BC Bill.

He said, “Is Etela Rajender directly talking about the BC reservations in Telangana. The BJP are only trying to mislead the people on the issue.”

‘BRS-BJP have an unholy alliance’

Goud once again pointed out that there is an unholy alliance between the BRS and the BJP and they are jointly working against the Congress.

“The BJP and BRS are one. They are running a joint household,” Goud alleged. He accused them of propagating lies and venomously campaigning against the Congress Party.

The ‘deficit card’ propaganda

The TPCC president vehemently refuted the BRS’s campaign about state ‘deficits,’ calling it ‘hypocritical and laughable.’

“The deficits (appulu) we are paying interest on today are the ones created by the BRS,” he declared. “If we talk about deficits, KCR is the first accused.”

Goud had questions regarding ‘BRS’s logic behind calling welfare schemes a deficit’:

- Is fulfilling the dreams of the unemployed a deficit?

- Is giving Rythu Bharosa (farmer assurance) a deficit?

- Are we in deficit for giving gas cylinders at a Rs 500 subsidy, 200 units of free electricity, and increasing Aarogya Sri coverage to Rs 10 lakh?

- Is waiving farmer loans, giving Rythu Bharosa, or a bonus for paddy a deficit?

- Is issuing ration cards, fine-quality rice, and Indiramma housing a deficit?

He dismissed the BRS campaign as fundamentally flawed and ridiculous, stating that the BRS is desperately resorting to the ‘Deficit Card’ due to its scams—including Kaleshwaram, Formula Car Races, and various government schemes—being exposed. He pointed out that the BRS themselves have a pending ‘deficit’ of 40 lakh ration cards for the people of Telangana.

Takes a dig at Centre

Goud also turned his criticism toward the central BJP government, accusing it of cheating farmers with fertilisers and looting thousands of crores of public money through GST over eight years.

Jubilee Hills election

Goud expressed confidence in the Congress party’s strong standing among the public and said that the Jubilee Hills by-election would be won by the party. He also said that over 80 per cent of the seats in the upcoming local body elections would also be won by the Congress party.
