Hyderabad: BRS Working President KTR has demanded an impartial and thorough investigation into the allegations of harassment made by Miss England Milla Magee.
Expressing deep anguish over the experience faced by Milla Magee on Telangana soil, which has a rich culture of respecting and venerating women, KTR stated that such an incident is profoundly distressing. As the father of a daughter, he expressed his heartfelt wish that no woman should ever face such unfortunate circumstances. On behalf of the entire Telangana society, he extended sincere apologies to Milla Magee.
KTR emphasised that the alleged incident faced by Milla Magee does not reflect the true spirit of Telangana and is contrary to the values cherished by its people. He highlighted that Telangana, which considers providing equal opportunities to women as a tradition, draws eternal inspiration from legendary figures like Rani Rudrama and Chityala Ailamma.
Commending the extraordinary courage required to stand against harassment on international platforms like Miss World, KTR praised Milla Mageeās resolve as commendable. He sincerely hoped for her swift recovery from this distressing experience.
KTR strongly condemned the governmentās alleged approach of attempting to blame the victim instead of investigating the allegations. He demanded a comprehensive inquiry and strict action against those responsible for harassing Milla Magee.
What is the controversy?
Miss England Milla Magee withdrew from the competition, citing feelings of exploitation and moral conflict. The 24-year-old, who is also a plus-size advocate and campaigner for CPR awareness, initially cited āpersonal reasonsā for her departure. However, in an exclusive interview with The Sun, Magee disclosed deeper concerns regarding her treatment during the event and broader issues within the Miss World organisation.
Magee described feeling āobjectifiedā during her time in Hyderabad and criticised the pageant for valuing appearance over character, despite its long-standing āBeauty With a Purposeā slogan. āI felt like we were being judged more for how we looked in the room than for what we had to say,ā she reportedly said.
She further stated, āIt felt outdated. The atmosphere didnāt reflect the progress we keep hearing about. There was a lack of genuine respect for what we, as women from diverse backgrounds, bring to the table.ā
