MLC election schedule for AP, Telangana out: Polling on March 20, results on same day

Amaravati/Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the biennial elections to the Legislative Councils of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by the Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) respectively to fill the seats of members retiring on March 29.

The polling has been set for March 20 and the results will be declared on the same day in the evening.

The term of office of 10 members of the Legislative Councils of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana elected by the (MLAs) is due to expire on their retirement on March 29.

Election schedule

As per the election schedule, nominations must be submitted between March 3 and 10, with the deadline for withdrawals being March 13 and the scrutiny date being March 11.

On March 20, polling will take place from 9 am to 4 pm and votes will be counted at 5 pm on March 20.

In Andhra Pradesh, the term of office of MLCs including Krishna Murthy Janga, Duvvarapu Rama Rao, Parchuri Ashok Babu, B Tirumala Naidu and Rama Krishnudu Yanamala will conclude on March 29.

Similarly in Telangana, the term of office of MLCs including Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Satyavathi Rathod, Seri Subash Reddy, Mallesham Yegge and Mirza Riyazul Hassan Effendi from Telangana would also conclude on March 29.
