MLC polls in Telangana, AP to be held on February 27, results on March 3

Hyderabad/Amaravati: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for elections to Legislative Councils of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies. The polling has been set for February 27 and announcement of results on March 3.

In Telangana, elections will be conducted for two Teachers’ MLC seats and one Graduates’ MLC seat, while in Andhra Pradesh polling will be conducted for one Teachers’ MLC seat and two Graduates’ MLC seat.




Election schedule

As per the election schedule, nominations must be submitted between February 3 and 10, with the deadline for withdrawals being February 13 and the scrutiny date being February 11. On February 27, polling will take place from 8 am to 4 pm and votes will be counted on March 3.




Telangana MLC polls

In Telangana constituencies, polls will be held for seats in Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda (Teachers’), Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar (Teachers’) and Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar (Graduates’).

Therefore, the model code of conduct will be implemented in most of the State except the former districts of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar.

Currently, Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ seat is now held by T Jeevan Reddy (Congress), while K Raghottham Reddy and Alugubelli Narsi Reddy represent the corresponding Teachers constituency. March 29 is the last day of their terms.

Andhra Pradesh MLC polls

In Andhra Pradesh constituencies, polls will be held for seats in East and West Godavari (Graduates’), Krishna-Guntur (Graduates’) and Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam (Teachers’).

Currently, East-West Godavari Graduates’ seat is now being held by IIla Venkateswara Rao, while KS Laxman Rao represents Krishna-Guntur Graduates’ and Pakalapati Raghu Varma represents Srikakulam-Vizianagaram-Visakhapatnam Teachers’ constituency.
