Hyderabad: The Disciplinary Action Committee of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has issued a show cause notice to MLC Teenmaar Mallanna for allegedly burning the Telangana caste census report.

The TPCC has asked the Member of the Legislative Council to respond by February 12 or be prepared for action against him.

Explanation within a week

The disciplinary committee has given the MLC a week to explain his actions. The notice warned that if ā€˜the response is not given within a week, stern action will be taken according to the Indian National Congress constitution.ā€™

The show cause notice was also sent to the All-India Congress Committee for necessary action.

What did MLC Teenmaar Mallanna do?

The Backward Class and Other Backward Class associations complained to the TPCC that Teenmaar Mallanna used derogatory language in a press conference which hurt the sentiments of the BC community. He also burned the caste census, they alleged.

In the show cause notice issued to him, the committee said Teenmaar Mallanna has violated the party norms being a member of the party and action has been initiated according to its laws.

Donā€™t be misled by propaganda, says TPCC chief

The notice reminded the MLC that the Congress party issued him the BB form from the graduate constituency of Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda.

TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud asked all the party members to follow discipline and not be misled by propaganda.

He said, ā€œThe numbers of caste survey are real and the survey has been carried out scientifically. We are in touch with Backward Class associations and have been clearing their doubts. The BC percentage in Telangana has increased and not decreased.ā€
