Hyderabad: MLC Balmoor Venkat has challenged Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T Harish Rao for a public debate on allegations of pending cards and the performance of both administrations.
Dr Venkat, speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, proposed a public forum to discuss the ten years of BRS rule versus the two years of the current ‘Praja Palana’ (People’s Rule) government. He dared the BRS leaders to accept his challenge.
Rebuttal on ‘pending cards’ and promises
Directly addressing Harish Rao’s recent criticism regarding ‘pending cards,’ Dr Venkat questioned the BRS leader's focus: “Harish Rao is making a fuss about ‘pending cards’... but has he forgotten about the promises the BRS government defaulted on during its ten years in power?”
He asserted that the BRS leaders, who are unable to resolve their own family issues, have no right to speak about the Congress party or its ministers.
Critique of unemployment under BRS
Dr Venkat launched a scathing attack on the previous BRS government’s handling of unemployment and youth issues:
Neglect of Education: “When they were in power, they never once visited a university or a library.”
False Sympathy: He labelled Harish Rao’s current actions as “feigned affection,” pointing out that despite being a minister, he failed to even grant appointments to the unemployed youth then.
Distortion of Tragedy: Dr Venkat recalled the tragic suicide of an unemployed sister, stating that the BRS leadership has a “vile history” of even distorting that incident. “It is a mistake to think the unemployed have forgotten all this,” he warned.
Two Years of ‘Praja Palana’
The MLC vehemently defended the current government's track record on job creation, stating that the BRS leaders lack the eligibility to comment on the two-year rule:
Commitment to Recruitment: “Since we came to power, we have been working with sincerity on job recruitments.”
Job Placements: “We have already distributed job appointments for approximately 58,000 posts across various departments.”
Boosting Morale: The appointment letters were personally handed over by the Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, instilling confidence among the unemployed.
CMs’ engagement with youth
Dr Venkat drew a sharp contrast between the current Chief Minister and the former BRS President: “Chief Minister Revanth Reddy himself visited a university and spoke with the unemployed youth, promising to return in December.”
“When KCR was the Chief Minister and visited the university, the unemployed chased him away, and he fled stealthily. Have you forgotten that?” he asked.
Accusation of opportunistic politics
Dr Venkat accused the BRS of attempting to incite the unemployed youth solely for the Jubilee Hills by-election.
He also levelled serious accusations about the BRS’s past conduct, stating, “Unemployed youth have personally written KCR's name and the names of BRS leaders before dying—the BRS leaders have a despicable history of sacrificing so many for their selfish politics.”
Commitment to future recruitments
The MLC concluded by highlighting KCR's administration as an “incompetent rule” that failed to provide justice to the unemployed for over ten years and was responsible for bringing in GO 46.
He assured the unemployed that the current government is committed to their well-being: “We will discuss with the unemployed regarding the upcoming notifications and bring their issues to the government's attention. Measures will be taken to ensure no difficulties arise in future notifications.”
