Modi cannot win any elections without EVMs: Rahul Gandhi

MUMBAI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an exclusive monopoly on corruption.

He also claimed that Modi cannot win any elections without the EVMs.

Addressing a mammoth rally after the successful conclusion of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra here today, Gandhi said he had felt the soul of India after his over ten thousand kilometer journey across the length and breadth of the country.

He said that while he could feel the pain of the people everywhere, at the same time, he realized India is not a place of hatred as the Modi regime is trying to make it, but a country of love, affection, and respect.

The Congress leader alleged that the BJP government was misusing agencies like the ED, the CBI, and the Income Tax to intimidate opposition leaders. He revealed that one senior former Congress leader before joining the BJP met Ms Sonia Gandhi and admitted that he had no strength to go to jail and that is why he was joining the BJP.

Gandhi revealed that he had been personally threatened by the then Finance Minister late Arun Jaitely who told him (Gandhi) not to speak on the Land Acquisition Bill. He said Jaitely threatened him with cases. To this, Gandhi added, he told Jaitely that he would not keep quiet and would speak.

As a result, Gandhi was slapped with cases and questioned for fifty hours by the ED. He quoted one of the ED officers who questioned him, telling him that he had found him (Rahul) not scared of anyone and he could defeat Modi. He said this strength comes from the peopleā€™s support only.

Referring to the INDIA alliance, Gandhi pointed out, that the leaders represented the entire country. Unlike Modiā€™s meeting, he said, where it is a one-man show, the INDIA alliance presents a diverse and united picture of the entire country. He said in Modiā€™s meetings leaders like Gadkari are sidelined so that they do not come in the photo frame.

Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Jharkhand CM Champai Soren, Tejashwi Yadav, Kalpana Soren, Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, GS Dipankar Bhattacharya, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Prakash Ambedkar, Sadiq Ali and VCK leader Thirumavalavan also addressed the massive Bharat Jodo Nyay Manzil-INDIA Rally.
