MP Kiran Kumar: BJP is trying to stay relevant by stirring communal tensions in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Bhongir Member of Parliament, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, accused Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, of attempting to incite communal tensions to maintain the BJP’s relevance in Hyderabad.
‘Attempt to stir religious sentiments’
The MP’s remarks come in response to Bandi Sanjay recently leading the newly elected BJP corporators from Karimnagar to the Bhagyalakshmi Temple in Hyderabad. Reddy alleged that this move was a calculated attempt to stir religious sentiments rather than focusing on governance.
The points highlighted by Kiran Kumar were:
‘Failure of Communal Tactics’: Reddy pointed out that even in Karimnagar, where Bandi Sanjay allegedly tried to provoke communal divisions, the BJP failed to secure a significant majority.
‘Poor Electoral Track Record’: He took a swipe at the BJP’s performance in local body polls, noting:
- Out of 116 municipalities, the BJP won only one.
- Out of 7 corporations, the BJP only secured Karimnagar.
Personal Jibe: Recalling a past incident, Reddy remarked that someone who ‘carried Amit Shah’s footwear’ during a visit to Hyderabad lacks the stature to criticise Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Development versus Rhetoric: Kiran Kumar said, “The Union Minister Bandi Sanjay must stop communal politics and instead concentrate on how much central funding can be brought for Telangana.”
CM Revanth Reddy has been frequently meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers for the Musi Rejuvenation project, Hyderabad Metro Rail phase 2, Regional Ring Road and Future City.
“The allegations of Bandi Sanjay on CM Revanth Reddy's visits to Delhi for political parcels are baseless. These trips are to meet PM Modi and Union Ministers for the projects of Telangana,” said Kiran Kumar.
