National Herald Case: KTR demands resignation of CM Revanth Reddy following ED Chargesheet

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has demanded the immediate resignation of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy following the latter’s name being mentioned in the ED chargesheet related to the National Herald – Young Indian case.

Terming it an “unprecedented insult” to Telangana, KTR said if Revanth has any integrity or morality left, he must step down immediately.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here on Saturday, KTR pointed out the conspicuous silence of BJP leaders in Telangana, even as their counterparts in Karnataka openly attacked Congress leader DK Shivakumar in the same case.

“This exposes the unholy nexus between BJP and Congress in the state,” he alleged, questioning why the Modi government is shielding a scandal-ridden Congress regime in Telangana.

Revanth a habitual offender: KTR

KTR said Revanth Reddy has a long track record of corruption, recalling the infamous “Vote for Note” case of 2015 where he was infamously dubbed a “Bag Man.” He also reminded the media of allegations made by Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who had claimed that Revanth bought the PCC chief post for Rs. 50 crore.

"Now, the ED chargesheet corroborates those very allegations, exposing details of who paid whom, what positions were sold, and how much money exchanged hands," KTR stated.

Congress turned Telangana into an ATM

"Telangana has become an ATM for the Congress High Command," said KTR. “Whenever Delhi Congress needs funds, Revanth Reddy delivers large sums to retain his position.” He accused Revanth of destroying Telangana's reputation on a national level.

“In just 17 months, Revanth Reddy made 44 trips to Delhi — not to bring any development to Telangana, but to plead with BJP leaders like Amit Shah to shield him from corruption charges,” he said.

KTR pointed out that despite not laying a single brick for any new project or implementing a single welfare scheme, Revanth Reddy had pushed Telangana into a staggering debt of Rs. 1.8 lakh crore. “Where is this money going?” he questioned.

A CM made of moneybags, not mandate

“Revanth Reddy is not a Chief Minister by mandate — he’s a CM made of moneybags,” KTR quipped, alleging that the Congress leader has continued the practice of “buying” power through illicit funding channels.

“Even the ED has admitted that cash collected from builders and middlemen was routed to Congress publications and election campaigns,” he added.

KTR accused Revanth of striking secret deals with both BJP and Congress bosses, stating: “Rahul Gandhi may be his official boss, but Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are his unofficial masters.”

Why are ED, CBI silent on Revanth’s scams?

KTR highlighted several alleged scams under Revanth’s regime that have seen no action from central agencies:

The AMRUT tenders scam, where contracts worth Rs. 1,137 crore were awarded to a firm owned by Revanth’s brother-in-law Srujan Reddy.

The Valmiki scam, where Rs. 45 crore allegedly landed in the hands of Telangana Congress leaders for Lok Sabha campaigning — yet no names have been made public.

The Civil Supplies scam, involving large-scale corruption with no investigation from the Centre or its agencies.

Land fraud at HCU, flagged by the Central Empowered Committee, with no follow-up from the BJP government.

KTR also raised the issue of ED raids on Congress Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s home nearly a year ago. “Despite visuals showing money-counting machines being used, there hasn’t been a single statement from either side,” he said.

Congress-BJP hand-in-glove

He accused the BJP of protecting corrupt Congress leaders in Telangana due to secret political deals. “Revanth is shielding BJP MPs involved in land scams, while BJP is returning the favor by staying silent on his corruption,” KTR alleged.

Citing the example of former Karnataka CM Yediyurappa, who resigned after housing scam allegations, KTR questioned why the same standards don’t apply to Revanth. “Several union ministers have resigned in the past over corruption allegations. Why not Revanth?” he asked.

Rahul’s silence deafening, BJP’s silence damning

KTR slammed Rahul Gandhi for not questioning Revanth Reddy despite his nationwide campaigns on saving democracy. “Why is he silent on corruption in his own party?” he asked.

He further questioned the Telangana BJP’s silence on Revanth’s alleged involvement in the same Young Indian case that Karnataka BJP attacks D.K. Shivakumar for. “Is this silence the price for their secret understanding?” KTR asked.

BRS to approach Governor, launch movement

“We will soon approach the Governor and request prosecution of Revanth Reddy,” KTR declared, warning that if the Centre fails to act, the BRS will launch a statewide agitation and expose the BJP-Congress collusion.

He concluded by reminding that the Supreme Court has already ruled out the need for a CBI probe into the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, rejecting corruption allegations.

“The people of Telangana must now recognize the true face of this Congress regime — a demonic force led by Revanth Reddy,” KTR said, affirming that BRS will continue its fight to expose the rot.

KTR reacts to Kavitha’s letter

“Revanth Reddy is like a demon haunting Telangana. Our only concern is how to drive that demon away," said KTR, while reacting to the letter written by BRS MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla to her father and former chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR)

“Ours is a democratic party — anyone can share suggestions with the leadership. But internal matters are best discussed within the party," the BRS leader said. He also added, "It’s not right to speak publicly about matters that should be discussed internally within the party.Every party has covert elements — they eventually reveal themselves.”
