Hyderabad: In a sharp political escalation, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on chief minister A Revanth Reddy following the Enforcement Directorate (ED) naming him in its chargesheet in the National Herald money laundering case.
Speaking to reporters, KTR described Revanth Reddy as a āhabitual offenderā and a ābagmanā, referring to the infamous 2015 cash-for-vote incident in which Reddy was caught on video attempting to bribe MLAs with Rs 50 lakh.
āNow he continues the same pattern of corruption,ā KTR said. āAccording to the EDās chargesheet in the National Herald scam, Mr. Revanth Reddyāwho was then the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Presidentāsought money from business houses and allegedly bribed several Congress office bearers. This is not an accusation from the opposition. This is in a central agencyās legal filing.ā
āCongress Must Own Responsibilityā
KTR questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhiās silence over the developments.
āEven when their own MP, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, accused Revanth of buying the PCC post for Rs 50 crore, the Congress chose to look the other way. Will Rahul Gandhi now take responsibility at least?ā he asked.
With the ED formally naming CM Revanth in the chargesheet, KTR asserted that the truth has come out. āThe cat is out of the bag. Telangana has now officially become an ATM for the Congress Party. Earlier, it was posts-for-cash within the party. Now, it is open loot at the state level.ā
āLong list of scams under Congress ruleā
Citing a āpattern of corruptionā since Congress came to power, KTR said scams have become a weekly affair in Telangana.
āFrom the Amrut scam, to the RR Tax scam, to the Civil Supplies scam, the list is endless. Itās no longer just political rhetoricāthe corruption is now out in the open,ā he stated.
He called on AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to issue a clear statement: āWill they continue to support a CM who has been chargesheeted by the ED, or will they act decisively?ā
āOpen and Shut Caseā
KTR concluded by calling it an open-and-shut case of bribery and political favouritism.
āThis is no longer just a BRS allegation. It has now been validated by a central agency. We demand answersānot just from Revanth Reddy, but from the national leadership of the Congress Party,ā he said.
The BRS leader called on national media and constitutional institutions to take note of what he termed āa complete collapse of ethical governance in Telangana.ā
