By Newsmeter Network Published on 24 Aug 2023 2:17 PM GMTHyderabad: The legal cell of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) filed a complaint against Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind from the BJP.
In a letter to the chief electoral officer, BRS in-charge of legal cell Soma Bharath Kumar requested necessary action against Dharmapuri Arvind on his speech about casting votes using EVMs.
According to the legal cell, Arvind was speaking at a gathering when he said, "You may cast your vote for Nota or for Hand (Congress), or in favour of CAR (BRS) symbol, but only Dharmapuri Arvind will win." The legal cell asked the CEO to go through the video sent to the office personally to understand its proper context.
āThis is a brazen statement made by Arvind, openly admitting that no matter how the public chooses to vote, only he will win the election. This is nothing but an indication by him that the liberty of the voter to press the symbol of his choice would be grossly interfered with and his/her rights to vote will be violated,ā read the letter.
The party stated that Arvind is implying no matter what button is pressed, the vote would go to his BJP symbol.
āThis statement of Aravind is nothing but his expression and his partyās intention to manipulate the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the coming elections to the State Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha. BJP is so undemocratic and it operates a gang of trollers on social media who indulge in vicious and vulgar trolling of people who try to speak in favour of democracy and against the un-democratic illegal activities of BJP,ā the letter said.
BRS legal cell also attached a news article of Karan Sangwan, an educator of Unacademy, an edutech organisation, who was fired from the company after telling his students to vote for āeducated candidates.ā The educator later said that he was removed from his job due to āpolitical pressure.ā
The BRS legal cell requested the CEO to take action against the 'verbal violence of Dharmapuri Arvind.'
