Nobody else should be subjected to such insult: Naidus wife on remarks against her

Vijayawada: Nara Bhuvaneswari, the wife of Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday responded to the comments made about her in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and expressed her gratitude to those protesting against the inappropriate comments.

Nara Bhuvaneswari, the daughter of the late former Chief Minister and actor N.T Rama Rao, said she will never forget how everybody supported her and responded as if the humiliation was caused to their own mother, sister, or daughter.

"Our mother and father raised us with values since our childhood. Everybody should strive to promote ethical values in society. Help should be extended to all those who are in pain and suffering," said Ms. Bhuvaneswari who is also the managing trustee of NTR Memorial Trust.

She further added that nobody should resort to any activities that would undermine the personality or respect of others. She prayed that nobody else should be subjected to the kind of insult that was caused to her.

On 19 November, Chandrababu Naidu broke down while addressing a media conference recalling YSRCP leaders' distasteful comments about his wife in the House. The TDP chief said his wife was dragged into dirty politics by YSRCP leaders. "The ruling YSRCP leaders are resorting to character assassination and immoral politics," he said and announced that he had decided not to attend Assembly sessions henceforth and would do so only after becoming the Chief Minister of the state.

When the day's proceedings began on 19 November, the Opposition TDP members had raised the issue of the murder of former minister and YSRCP leader Y.S Vivekananda Reddy, the paternal uncle of Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The CBI is investigating the case and one of the accused had mentioned the names of Jagan's family members in his confession.

In response to the TDP members, YSRCP MLA Ambati Rambabu made some remarks about Mr. Naidu's wife. The TDP chief said he was pained and aggrieved by the comments and took strong exception to them. When he was speaking, Speaker T. Sitaram cut off his microphone.

Later, Chief Minister Jagan accused Mr. Naidu of resorting to theatrics and said the Opposition was trying to politicize issues.

"It is very unfortunate that the Opposition leader resorts to theatrics instead of giving us constructive suggestions. His agenda seems to be politicizing every issue and the way he talked and conducted himself appears to be a drama. He was speaking incoherently and out of context because he was frustrated after the continuous rejections from the people," Jagan told the Assembly on 19 November.
