Hyderabad: In a strong rebuttal to senior leader T Jeevan Reddy, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B Mahesh Kumar Goud issued a stern response to his recent critical remarks against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Jeevan Reddy resigned from Congress on March 25.
Why did Jeevan Reddy leave Congress?
Jeevan Reddy was associated with the Congress party for 42 years and was complaining about the changes in the party for the last two years.
The leadership of Telangana Congress also met him to resolve the issues. But there was no positive outcome and Jeevan Reddy left the party.
Will Jeevan Reddy join BRS?
Political circles are abuzz that Jeevan Reddy is set to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and is in touch with BRS working president KT Rama Rao.
Defending the State government and CM Revanth, Goud questioned the validity of the allegations and challenged the Opposition to provide evidence.
What did Goud tell Jeevan Reddy?
Mahesh Kumar Goud reminded the veteran leader of the party’s long-standing support, noting that the Congress had provided Jeevan Reddy with the ‘B-Form’ 14 times throughout his career.
Goud questioned Jeevan Reddy’s authority to demand the Chief Minister’s exit, stating, “Who is Jeevan Reddy to say CM Revanth should go? He was elected by all the MLAs.”
He remarked that the public is no longer in a state to take Jeevan Reddy’s criticisms seriously. He urged the leader to reflect on his own past criticisms of the BRS before targeting the Congress.
‘Unseen alliance’
Goud alleged that there is no real difference between the BRS and BJP, claiming the two parties are destined to merge or form an alliance soon.
“No one has prospered under the leadership of the BJP,” he stated, adding that the BRS lost power because the people of Telangana demanded change.
He dismissed the opposition’s attacks as ‘baseless allegations’ and warned that Congress would not tolerate attempts to ‘sling mud’ without cause.
Open challenges over corruption claims and projects
Addressing the allegations made by BRS leader Harish Rao regarding Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, the TPCC chief dared the opposition to bring proof to Gandhi Bhavan.
“If you have evidence, don’t just make noise. Come to Gandhi Bhavan for a discussion; I am ready for the challenge,” he said.
The Nadargul land issue
Goud clarified that the Nadargul land scam occurred during the BRS regime, not under the current government.
He compared the durability of Congress-built projects to the Kaleshwaram project, which he claimed is ‘collapsing within three years,’ whereas older projects haven’t even seen a crack.
‘NSUI: The foundation of leadership’
Coinciding with NSUI Formation Day, Goud highlighted that he, along with Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, and other leaders, all rose through the ranks of the NSUI.
He described the student wing as a ‘leadership-producing company’ and expressed confidence in its future under the leadership of Venkataswamy.
Cabinet expansion
On the topic of a potential cabinet reshuffle, Goud clarified that it remains the sole prerogative of the Chief Minister. However, he noted that according to his current information, no cabinet expansion is expected in the immediate future.
