PM Modi enacted vaccine drama, Shah insulted people of Hyderabad: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned the TRS, the BJP, and the AIMIM for using GHMC election campaign to instill fear and spread hatred among people instead of debating real issues.

On the last day of the GHMC election campaign on 29 November, Uttam Kumar addressed a series of roadshows across Hyderabad and a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan.

He described the GHMC campaign as the "worst ever campaign for municipal elections" which witnessed Nazi style propaganda carried out by the TRS, the BJP, and the AIMIM to suppress real public issues. "In Mein Kampf, Hitler wrote that propaganda "must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over". In the GHMC polls, CM KCR spearheaded the hate campaign by making remarks that "Hyderabad did not face any communal riots" for six years. He created an artificial fear in the minds of the people about a possible communal rift. BJP and AIMIM then joined the chorus with communal statements. Allegations and counter-allegations were made for a week with TRS and BJP leaders capturing almost the entire media space. KCR concluded the campaign with the threat "If you don't vote for TRS, the city will lose its peace"," he said.

Uttam said that the people should look at the series of statements by the TRS, the BJP, and AIMIM leaders to understand the reality. They instilled fear among Hyderabadis either to discourage them from participating in elections or vote in their favour, he said, adding that it was highly unfortunate that the mainstream media gave too much prominence to those speeches.

The TPCC chief said that the BJP leaders insulted the history, culture, and the people of Hyderabad. "Union Home minister Amit Shah did not visit Hyderabad when more than 100 people died in the floods but he came to campaign for the GHMC elections. Similarly, Prime Minister Narender Modi enacted the drama in the name of visiting the coronavirus vaccine facility in Hyderabad. He behaved as if the scientists wouldn't have made vaccines if he (PM Modi) wouldn't have visited them. Uttar Pradesh has the worst law and order situation in the country with Dalit women being subjected to various atrocities but UP CM visits Hyderabad proposing to change the city's name," he said.

Uttam further said that if the BJP leaders are so certain of KCR's corruption, then why is their government at the Centre not ordering a CBI probe against him? "Who is Yogi Adityanath, a Karnataka MP, or even Bandi Sanjay to promise that they will change the name of Hyderabad? They are all outsiders and have nothing to do with my city. How dare Bandi Sanjay use terminology like surgical strike against the Old City of Hyderabad where I was born," he said.

The Congress leader said that the Central forces were not called for help when Hyderabad witnessed the worst ever floods. But for the GHMC elections, Central forces are being called as if Hyderabadis are trouble makers, he said, adding the TRS, the BJP, and AIMIM are one and the same and their hate politics should be rejected.

CM KCR and his family have been plundering Telangana for the last seven years, accused the TPCC chief and said, "KCR's meeting at LB Stadium was a huge flop and it gave a clear indication that his downfall has begun." He said that the TRS tried to polarise the entire campaign only to divert people's attention from its failures and that Hyderabad has witnessed development only during the Congress rule.
