Telangana Congress leaders under house arrest due to PM Modi visit to Hyderabad

Hyderabad: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hyderabad visit, police placed National Students Union of India (NSUI) president Balamuri Venkat, Dalit Congress president Pritam, and Women Congress president Sunita Rao under house arrest.


Youth Congress State President Shiv Sena Reddy was taken into custody by Rajendranagar ACP Gangadhar.

Hyderabad Youth Congress President M Rohit was arrested and moved to Nallakunta police station. He was planning to put up ‘Modi Hatao Desh Bachao’ banners at the PM rally venue.



Congress leaders react

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Mallu Ravi said, “If Modi is coming, why are Congress leaders being arrested? When Prime Minister Modi comes to the state, we as the opposition party have the right to bring the needs of the state to Modi's attention. On the one hand, Bharat Rashtra Samiti says that they are against Modi’s politics, and on the other hand they are targeting Congress leaders in the state.”

Why has Singareni called for a bandh today?

Bellaiah Naik, senior spokesperson of the party says, “It is clear that BRS and BJP are working together as a defect. Congress Party has the responsibility to protect the rights of the people. The party is going to fight for that.”
