Police arrest Kala Venkata Rao for allegedly attacking YSRC leader Vijaya Sai Reddy

Srikakulam :Amid high drama, police arrested senior TDP leader and former minister K Kala Venkata Rao for allegedly throwing stones and damaging the vehicle of YSRC leader V Vijaya Sai Reddy at Ramateertham in Vizianagaram district. Police have shifted the Venkata Rao to Nellimarla in Vizianagaram district.

Police also arrested six other TDP activists at Nellimarla in Vizianagaram district.Cops had deployed a large number of men at Rajam to prevent any untoward incident during the arrest of TDP leader Kala Venkata Rao.

TDP activists had allegedly attacked the convoy of Rajya Sabha member when he was returning from Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Ramateertham on January 2.

The incident took place after Vijay Sai Reddy inspected the beheaded idol of Lord Rama at the temple and performed puja along with some YSRC leaders. TDP workers threw footwear and stones at Vijaya Sai Reddy'sconvoy and damaged the car.

Vijaya Sai Reddy lodged a complaint with the Nellimarla police station and named TDP leader Kala Venkata Rao and his henchmen. He alleged that TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and TDP leader K Atchannaidu had given orders for the attack.

TDP leaders and activists in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram raised slogans against the YSRC leaders and police. They demanded the immediate release of Kala Venkata Rao.
