Police preventing private persons from distributing food to COVID victims: Naidu
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) came down heavily on the Jagan Mohan Reddy government for 'failing' to come to the rescue of the people in the COVID pandemic.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 28 May 2021 3:34 AM GMTAmaravati: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) came down heavily on the Jagan Mohan Reddy government for 'failing' to come to the rescue of the people in the COVID pandemic.
In a resolution passed on the first day of 'Digital Mahanadu', TDP leaders expressed shock over how the ruling YSRCP leaders were using the police to prevent the opposition parties and good Samaritans from helping COVID patients.
When some organizations opened quarantine centers, the ruling party was removing them for ulterior political benefits. The YSRCP leaders were not allowing others to help the infected persons.
Expressing serious concern, TDP National President and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu asked whether it was correct for the Chief Minister to appear in public without wearing a mask.
"What message he was sending to the people? The ruling party was playing dangerous games with the lives of the people. Police are being sent to prevent private persons from distributing quality food at the COVID centers. YSRCP was doing politics even in vaccines which were being administered only to their party cadres while the rest of the population was exposed to extreme dangers," he said.
Naidu said Jagan Reddy regime's failure to control the first COVID wave has made AP a victim of a severe form of the second wave. "AP government should wake up and rise to the occasion. Any more complacency would prove more dangerous since the wave 3 infections were going to take a toll on the children as well. The government should shed its negligent attitude and start providing effective facilities to save lives," he said.
Naidu deplored that the Jagan Reddy rule was adopting a complicated, anti-people stand in the fight against the dreaded virus from the beginning. The central government came forward to administer vaccines to all those above 45 years. It has even advised the state governments to buy vaccines to inoculate above 18 years. But the AP regime did not buy vaccines.
Decrying the CM's complacent mindset, Naidu asked why the AP rulers were obstructing private institutions to buy vaccines for saving lives. "The CM was acting sadistically when the state was turning into a burial ground. The government should spend Rs. 1,600 Cr to vaccinate all people in the State so as to make AP free from the COVID threat," he said.
TDP chief asked YSRCP leaders to explain why they were creating problems in the distribution of the Anandaiah medicine even after the Ayush experts have certified it as not harmful. The CM should answer why Anandaiah was taken into police custody and why he was being shifted from place to place. It was a shame Anandaiah was forced to make medicine in secret places from where the YSRCP leaders were taking it away to sell the same at very high rates in other places.
