Assand (Karnal): Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said that Congress was storming to power in Haryana with a sweeping majority. He said, the new government will belong to everyone, and everybody will get their due.
Addressing a largely attended public rally here on Thursday, Gandhi alleged that the RSS had captured all the institutions in the country whether the bureaucracy, the media or the intelligence services.
Troubles of migrants
Gandhi, who recently returned from a US visit, narrated the sad story of about 20 people from Haryana who had made their way through a lot of difficulties. He said they were trapped in the US and could not come back for another 10 years while their relatives were crying to see them back home.
He said, there were thousands of people like them who were struggling in the US. He said those people were forced to leave their native places by selling their land or taking money on exorbitant interest. He said, on average these people had spent Rs 50 lakhs each to reach there.
‘Youth being forced to leave country’
Gandhi blamed the BJP government in Haryana for the plight of these youth who were forced to leave the country, as there were no avenues in the state.
He promised that once the BJP government is thrown out and the Congress returns to power, it will create employment avenues so that people are not forced to leave under such circumstances.
He said he was pained to see a child crying while making a video call to his father in the US. He promised that the Congress party would wipe the tears of all those people.
‘BJP has created a monopoly’
The Leader of the Opposition alleged that the Narendra Modi government had created a monopoly and helped his friends like Ambanis and Adanis only. He said, that while no farmer’s debt was waived off, Rs 16 lakh crores of debt of 25 billionaires like Adani and Ambani had been waived off.
Reiterating his commitment to getting a caste census done in the country, he said, it was important to find out who controlled how many resources. He said that 90 per cent of people in India had no say or representation in the corporate world or media. He said, even in the bureaucracy, their representation was negligible.
Gandhi also flagged the issue of drug addiction in the state. He pointed out, 3000 kgs of heroin was seized from Adani’s port but no action was taken against anyone. This was not even reported in the media and the case was hushed up.
‘Small businesses destroyed’
Referring to the plight of sportspersons, Gandhi said, while they were struggling hard to bring glory to the State and to the country, the Modi government and the BJP government in Haryana had done nothing for them.
He also pointed out how small and medium-scale industries were being systematically destroyed in the country and Chinese imports were encouraged. He said a limited number of businessmen import goods from China and pocket all the benefits. He said they don’t manufacture anything here.
Expressing confidence that Congress was storming to power in Haryana with a sweeping majority, Gandhi assured that it would be everybody’s government and everyone would get his/her due.
Among those present on the occasion were PCC president Udai Bhan, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, senior leaders Kumari Selja, Chaudhary Birender Singh and others.
