Revanth alleges corruption in Telangana power supply; claims BRS embezzling Rs 8,000 crore per year
Revanth Reddy alleged that Telangana government is manipulating three-phase current and providing only single-phase power throughout the day
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 July 2023 3:28 PM GMTHyderabad: A heated political battle occurred between the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Revanth Reddy, and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party working president and IT minister KT Rama Rao.
Accusations and challenges flew back and forth on the issue of electricity supply in the state.
Revanth Reddy, in a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, countered KTRās earlier comments on party leaders and challenged him to a discussion. He alleged that the government is manipulating three-phase current and providing only single-phase power throughout the day.
āThe government is stealing crores of rupees under the guise of electricity bills. I challenge KT Rama Rao to a discussion on this issue. I will go wherever he goes and prove that he is lying.ā
Reddy also alleged that the BRS government is misusing free electricity. He said that the government is showing an exorbitant amount of approximately Rs 16,000 crore annually as expenditure while embezzling Rs 8,000 crore per year. He directly accused chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao of using free electricity for corruption.
āCorrupt tenders and sub-par techā
The Congress leader also raised concerns about corruption in the tender process for thermal power projects. He alleged that K Chandrashekar Rao and KT Rama Rao have taken bribes, resulting in subcritical technology being used instead of the intended supercritical technology.
In addition, Revanth criticised KTRās remarks about Rahul Gandhiās understanding of agriculture, questioning KTRās own knowledge on the subject. He called for protests and blockades at farmer venues until a 24-hour electricity supply was provided and demanded action against BRS MLAs.
Revanth accused the BRS and BJP of having an unholy alliance, referring to them as ādark friendsā with a strong bond. He labelled Congress as the āJalayajnamā (water scheme) and BRS as the āDhanayajnamā (money scheme), insinuating corruption in both parties.
The TPCC president also raised doubts about K Chandrashekar Raoās leadership and challenged him to contest in the Gajwel constituency. He questioned the intention behind allotting seats to sitting MLAs and called it an attack on KCRās rule.
Revanth concluded by alleging that KTR criticism is a tactic to divert attention from alleged corruption within the government.
