Revanth: BRS prioritises elections, votes, seats; Congress only wants Telangana’s welfare
Revanth Reddy spoke about the ‘strong bond’ between the BJP and the BRS and criticised the BJP for protecting BRS from being punished for its ‘corruption.’
By Newsmeter Network Published on 6 Oct 2023 3:11 PM GMTHyderabad: Taking a dig at the ruling powers at the Centre and the State, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy said that the people of Telangana can see that the BJP and the BRS are working as one party for the upcoming elections.
On Friday, BRS MLC Kasireddy Narayana Reddy joined the Congress party in the presence of AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge in Delhi. On the occasion, Revanth Reddy spoke about the ‘strong bond’ between the BJP and the BRS and criticised the BJP for protecting BRS from being punished for its ‘corruption.’ He alleged that the ‘steering of BJP is in the hands of Adani and the steering of BRS is in the hands of Asaduddin (Owaisi).’
‘Leaders are joining Congress even without a government
“Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy invited Kasireddy Narayana Reddy to the seat (Kalwakurthy) he was contesting. I appreciate his decision. Other leaders in Telangana should take Chand Reddy as an example and come forward,” said Revanth Reddy.
“We have no government. There are no posts. However, Kasireddy, Mynampally, Rekha Naik and others have joined the Congress,” said Revanth about the recent slew of new entrants into Congress.
“Does KCR consider himself a Baahubali? The people of Telangana will come to know in 45 days who is small and who is big,” he added.
Congress asks BRS to ‘come clean’ on cost of Secretariat
“Congress was not in power when Telangana came. You have been in power for two consecutive terms. Are you ready to compare our 10-year rule in the combined state and your 10-year rule in Telangana?” Revanth Reddy challenged the ruling KCR government.
Alleging BRS of mismanaging a surplus budget of 16,000 crores, he accused the state government of extortion in the name of Telangana sentiment. He alleged discrepancies in the tenders called for the construction of Martyrs’ Stupa, the Ambedkar Statue, and the state Secretariat, and the final expenditure for all.
He said that while Rs 1,200 crores were spent on the construction of the Secretariat, only Rs 400 crores was the initial estimation.
Commenting on prime minister Narendra Modi's trip to Telangana, Revanth Reddy asked BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind to divulge the details on the new Turmeric Board promised by the Centre to Telangana farmers.
He also expressed confidence that all the poll surveys indicated that the Congress would win in the state. Revanth Reddy also made it clear that six guarantees made to the people of Telangana by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi will be fulfilled.
Revanth goes after KTR, Harish
Criticising the ‘two thieves in disguise,’ Revanth Reddy pointed at the lack of development under ministers KTR and Harish Rao. He reminded the party that “Congress made Harish Rao a minister at the time when he was not even an MLA.”
“Remember that the position and status you (Harish) are enjoying are given to you by the Congress,” he said. Speaking of former Andhra CM Rajasekhar Reddy’s contribution to implementing free electricity, he said the Congress party had initiated schemes like Aarogyasri, Rythu loan waiver and fee reimbursement.
“You cannot criticise the Congress for not developing Telangana? Are you seeing the schemes that are being implemented in Chhattisgarh and Himachal by the Congress?” Revanth Reddy asked while asking people to question why the development in Siddipet, Sircilla, and Gajwel is not showing in other constituencies.
“BRS priority is elections, votes and seats and BJP has no candidates. It only has a manifesto,” he said and added that Congress' priority is the people’s welfare.
