Revanth claims polls brought ‘Congress tsunami’ to Telangana; predicts 25 seats for BRS

Hyderabad: “It’s a Congress tsunami in Telangana,” said Revanth Reddy, president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) expressing confidence in the predictions of exit polls, claiming that the ruling BRS will not get more than 25 votes. On the polling day on Thursday, Revanth Reddy cast his vote in Kodangal.

“The people of Telangana are aware of whom are they voting for, said Revanth Reddy. “We will form the government on December 9,” he said. Bharat Rashtra Samithi has rubbished the exit polls. But Revanth Reddy claimed that BRS will not get more than 25 seats. “KCR will also be defeated in Kamareddy,” added Revanth Reddy.

Celebrations in every village’

Every village of Telangana is going to celebrate the victory of the Congress party, said Revanth Reddy. “KTR has rubbished the poll predictions but KCR did not even come out of his farmhouse. Victory and defeat are natural in the public domain. For democratic governance, the opposition and the ruling party have to play a responsible role. Congress leaders are not going to act autocratically like KCR. Congress party leaders are not going to be rulers but servants for the people,” he added.

Professor Kodandaram will be entrusted with key responsibilities by the Congress government, he said.

Appealing to the Congress cadre and leaders, Revanth Reddy said, “This is the time to act with care. The objectives before us are the swearing-in of the Congress government, materialising the six guarantees and democratic governance. The party will decide which post I should hold and which post I should resign from.”

Riding on Telangana sentiment

He said that chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao used Telangana sentiment to win previous elections. Revanth Reddy said that the tension at Nagarjunasagar was plotted by KCR. “The water from Sagar dam is for the people of Telangana. These issues are being created as the BRS is trying hard to inflame the sentiment in people,” he said.

Revanth Reddy also appealed to the Congress party candidates, election agents and workers, asking them to be alert till the polling is over, and the EVMs are sealed and safely kept away in the strong rooms. He said that the election commission should disclose the percentage of polling recorded on the same day as polling.
