Nagar Kurnool: Nagar Kurnool MP Dr Mallu Ravi today accused Bharatiya Janata Party of systematically targeting the Dalits in the country.
Ravi met with Dalit groups in Nagar Kurnool on Sunday. The groups expressed concern over the attacks.
"The BJP leaders preach ideals but are actively targeting Dalits and backward classes. The policies of the BJP led to the shoe throwing at the CJI and the alleged suicide of an IPS officer in Haryana. This shows the deep rot in the system created by the BJP," Ravi said.
Recent incidents raise concern:
Shoe-throwing incident at Supreme Court CJI Gavai: The MP condemned the act of a shoe being thrown at Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai in open court, stating it has brought shame to India before the world. He criticized Prime Minister Modi’s muted reaction to the incident, saying it deeply disappointed the nation's Dalits.
Suicide of IPS officer in Haryana: Dr Ravi alleged that the Dalit IPS officer in Haryana committed suicide due to the BJP’s policies that foster caste discrimination. He pointed out that despite the officer detailing the harassment by his superiors in a three-page suicide note, neither the Haryana BJP government nor the central government, which oversees IPS officers' affairs, took any action. He lamented the tragic situation where the deceased officer's wife, an IAS officer, is forced to fight for justice for her husband.
Demand for change
Ravi asserted that the BJP, by eroding the Dalits' right to life, has lost the moral right to continue in power at the Centre. He questioned why RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, who preaches that all Hindus are one, remains silent on these incidents across the country. Dr. Ravi says, " BJP leaders cannot tolerate Dalits rising to positions like IAS, IPS, and Judges. The safety of these high-ranking officers is important."
A call for resistance, not suicide
Dr Mallu Ravi urged Dalits who face humiliation and discrimination to "revolt" instead of resorting to suicide. He said, "We are all together in this fight, and those who are being discriminated against must not give up, but they must fight back."
