State, central governments not valuing lives during a pandemic, says MLA Seethakka

Mulugu: Even though the Coronavirus has created a pandemic that has affected every household, the State and Central governments are unmoved by the plight of people, said Mulugu MLA and Mahila Congress state general secretary Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka. "The governments are being selfish and giving priority to elections and economy only," she said.

In a video statement, she said the BJP at the Centre and the TRS at the state level have lost the right to run governments. They do not give value to the lives of the people and hence make no effort to protect them. She urged people to think and act instead of suffering in silence.

Reminding that public health is a constitutional right, she accused the government of being more focused on building mansions. "It is atrocious to see Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao deciding not to go for a lockdown, despite an increase in the spread of the virus, since he believes that the economy would be affected," she said. Seethakka questioned if KCR plans to give free treatment to people.

"Everyone, especially the youth must speak up and demand free health services from the state. The TRS government boasts of being a model to the entire country with its welfare schemes. We ask it to take another such step and include treatment of Coronavirus under Aarogyasri," she said.
