TDP leader Buddha Venkanna arrested in Vijayawada

Amaravati: The Telugu Desam Party leader Buddha Venkanna was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in Vijayawada on Monday for making comments against Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Gowtham Sawang and YSRCP Minister Kodali Nani.

During a media interaction on Monday, the TDP leader spoke on the 'Gudivada-Casino' issue and commented that the DGP has been supporting the YSRCP government. He also made comments on Minister Kodali Nani saying that if Nani tried to attack Chandra Babu Naidu's residence, he would only go back dead.

During the questioning by the police at his residence who came to arrest him, Mr. Venkanna admitted that he did make those comments. In his comments, he also said that the AP police were acting as the agents for the ruling party.

At the time of arrest, TDP supporters surrounded his residence and tried to stop the arrest. They raised slogans against the YSRCP government.

Cases were booked under Section 153A, 506, 505(2), and 34 IPC and investigation is on at I Town police station.
