Telangana Assembly: KTR dares CM Revanth to launch indefinite hunger strike in Delhi for BC bill
Hyderabad: Recalling how former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) had vowed not to return from Delhi until Telangana Statehood was achieved, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday dared Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to replicate that commitment.
“If he has the courage, Revanth should sit on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar until the BC Bill is secured. That is the kind of dedication people expect, not empty talk,” KTR declared in the Assembly while speaking on the Panchayat Raj Amendment Bill.
‘Fix an appointment with PM, we will also come’
KTR urged the Congress government to lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister on the BC reservations issue.
“Fix an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will also come along and extend full support,” he said, stressing that the government must act with unity and seriousness.
‘CM must change style to get the appointment’
The BRS leader ridiculed the Chief Minister’s approach to Delhi politics.
“In Delhi, they say those seeking appointments are made to walk barefoot. After hearing Revanth’s comments, why would they give him appointments at all? The CM must change his words and style,” KTR remarked.
Ads in Bihar spark attack
KTR accused the Congress government of misusing public money for political self-promotion. “Instead of fighting for BC reservations in Telangana, the Chief Minister is busy releasing ads with his photos in Bihar using Telangana taxpayers’ money,” he alleged.
KTR lists KCR’s record on BC welfare
Defending BRS’s track record, KTR recalled KCR’s longstanding role in championing BC rights: In 2002, KCR introduced a BC policy through his party. In 2004, he demanded a separate BC Welfare Ministry at the Centre.
Telangana Assembly also passed a resolution seeking caste census along with the national census, much before Rahul Gandhi raised the issue, KTR pointed out.
‘Congress misleading BCs’
KTR accused the ruling Congress of political deception. “Congress is trapped on the 42 per cent quota issue. That is why they are bringing a law outside their constitutional scope. This is nothing but misleading the BCs,” he said.
Demand for clarity on bill
Questioning the government’s legal strategy, KTR asked: “What is the difference between the Bill passed in March and the one being introduced now? If the Governor or President did not approve earlier, how will they approve now? Laws should be framed without loopholes.”
‘Dedication needed, not declarations’
Dismissing Congress claims, KTR said there were no ceilings in the Panchayat Raj or Municipal Acts enacted under BRS rule.
“Congress propaganda is false. BC declarations alone will not do; what is needed is genuine sincerity and dedication,” he concluded.
