Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accused the BRS and BJP of "finding fault" with statistics from the state's caste survey, claiming that they will be questioned by the backward classes about their share of power.

Revanth Reddy held a meeting with backward class associations in light of the opposition BRS and BJP alleging that the caste survey data is "inaccurate".

Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy emphasized that the caste census, which was done in November-December of last year, was meticulously carried out. He accused the BJP of attempting to "undermine" the caste census because it affects the interests of one or two castes "who wield power," assuming the Congress-conducted survey survives judicial scrutiny.

Launching a scathing attack on the previous BRS government, Revanth Reddy said that the KCR-led government did not disclose the details of the Comprehensive Family Survey conducted during its tenure, as it was "full of errors". The previous government used the survey report only during elections and not for the benefit of the people, he said.

"The opposition parties collaborated to undermine the entire system by misrepresenting the process. The BC fraternity needs to take this seriously. Nobody has ever performed a caste census in independent India. Some are concerned that BCs may stake a claim once the Backward Classes population is declared," the chief minister said.

Asserting that the caste census results are 100 percent correct, he urged everyone not to be "misled by falsehoods". He urged BC leaders to hold survey-related meetings and enact resolutions acknowledging it. "The caste census is a Bible, Bhagavad Gita, and Quran for all weaker sections," he added.
