Telangana CEO begins poll preparations for 2 Teachers, 1 Graduate seats

Hyderabad: With the terms of two Teachers and one Graduate MLCs from Telangana expiring on March 29, 2025, the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Telangana, C Sudharshan Reddy, has initiated preparations for the upcoming biennial elections.

In a video conference held on Tuesday with the district election officers (DEOs) and electoral registration officers (EROs), the CEO outlined the steps needed for conducting the elections to fill regular vacancies in the State Legislative Council.




The three Members of the Legislative Council whose terms are ending refer to Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduatesā€™ Constituency, Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Teachersā€™ Constituency and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachersā€™ Constituency.

The CEO emphasised that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has mandated the preparation of fresh electoral rolls for the Graduatesā€™ and Teachersā€™ constituencies, with November 1, 2024, as the qualifying date. The rolls will be prepared following the comprehensive guidelines issued by the ECI in its circular dated September 5, 2016.

The house-to-house verification is scheduled to be completed by September 30.

The schedule for polls is as follows:

September 30: Issue of public notice under rule 31 (3) of the Registration of Electors Rules,1960.

October 16: First re-publication of notice in newspapers.

October 25: Second re-publication of notice in newspapers.

November 6: Last date of receipt of applications in Form 18 or 19.

November 20: Period for the preparation of manuscripts and printing of draft electoral rolls.

November 23: Draft publication of electoral rolls.

September 23 to December 9: Period for filing of claims and objections.

December 25: Date by which the claims and objections shall be disposed of and supplements be prepared and printed.

December 30: Final publication of electoral rolls.
