Tirupati by-poll: Naidu took umbrage at Jagans tax policy, skyrocketing prices

Srikalahasti: TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday launched his campaign for Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election.

Starting door to door campaign from Srikalahasti Super Bazaar Center, he lambasted chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for imposing huge taxes on the common man.

"Should we vote for imposing a burden of Rs 2.50 lakh on every family in two years? Should we vote for a massive increase in taxes, prices, and debt? Should we vote for committing new scams?' asked Naidu.

Talking about Ammavodi Naidu, he said Jagan gave Rs 14,000 and extorted Rs 36,000 from Nanabuddi (father's liquor bottle).

"Isn't it true that Rs 25,000 crore has been extorted by raising liquor rates? Isn't it true that Rs 10,000 crore was looted by abolishing free sand and turning it into a mafia? Isn't it true that 125 professions and businesses have been damaged by the sand shortage? Didn't 50 lakh construction workers lose their jobs?" he asked.

He said prices of essential commodities in Jagan's rule have skyrocketed. "Electricity charges and gas rates have been increased. The only party which satisfied the hunger of the poor through Anna canteens is the Telugu Desam Party," he said.

Naidu said YCP is spoiling the sanctity of Tirupati and it is the responsibility of the people to protect Lord Venkanna. He said illegal cases were being filed against TDP leaders who fought for justice when the idols of Subramanya Swamy were destroyed in Kuppam.

TDP chief said he would not be cowed down by police cases. He asked people to vote responsibly as the onus is on them to safeguard democracy.

"Not a single industry had come to the state in the last two years. Many companies were brought to Chittoor during the rule of the Telugu Desam Party. The situation is such that youth are going to neighboring states for jobs," he said.

Talking about the local MLA Biyyapu Madhu Sudhan Reddy, Naidu said he has looted Rs 200 crore in two years.

"He provoked Kalahasti Pipes factory workers to go on strike in order to grab the contracts. This directly affected 5,000 workers and indirectly 10,000 people. He threatened TCEL Company and got a contract worth Rs 121 crore, of which MLA took Rs 12 crore at 10 percent commission. He stole Rs 15 crore from a farmer who gave 300 acres of land to Kalahasti Rural Zone Industrial Park," he said

Naidu said during the lockdown, the MLA brought liquor from Bangalore and made crores. He had become a super spreader.

"The MLA threatened the local factory and made his daughter union leader. The sand is transported to the neighboring states of Chennai and Bangalore. About 1500 tractors are moving from Yerpedu zone, Madibaka, Kottaveerapuram and Papanayudupeta. When an industrialist came to set up an industry in the SEZ (APIIC), he was asked to pay commission and partnership," he said.

Naidu challenged Chief Minister to order an inquiry into Madhusudhan Reddy's illegal activities. "Amravati, the heart of AP Polavaram project has been destroyed in YCP rule. Sub Plan funds are being diverted. TDP government waived off Rs 17,000 crore farmer's debts," he said.
