Telangana: TPCC president Mahesh Goud dares Bandi Sanjay to win polls without invoking religion
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief and MLC B Mahesh Kumar Goud challenged Union Minister Bandi Sanjay to win elections without mentioning God or religion for garnering votes.
He also alleged that it is because of the lack of support and commitment from Telangana BJP leaders that the BC reservation bill has not been passed in Parliament.
“BJP is going to suffer a crushing defeat in the local elections and Bandi Sanjay should be ready to take political sannyas (exile),” said Mahesh Goud.
‘BJP neglected temples’
“You who do politics by invoking the name of God, have you given even a single paisa to the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple or the development of the Vemulawada Raja Rajeshwara Temple?” the TPCC chief asked.
However, when asked about injustice in the allocation of funds and projects from the Centre to the State, the BJP leaders are unable to answer the questions and sidetrack the issues, he alleged.
Mahesh questions BJP’s report card in Telangana
The TPCC chief asked Bandi Sanjay to show what the party has given to the State in his role as a Union Minister. Don’t forget that you are not a corporator but a Union Minister, he said.
“Can you give an account of what you have done for Telangana and Karimnagar as a Union Minister? How many projects have been brought to Karimnagar from the Centre and how many youths have been given jobs?” he asked. He challenged the BJP minister to compare the BJP’s contributions to the one-and-a-half-year Congress rule in the State.
“As many as 24 crore jobs should have been created in 12 years of BJP rule. Shall we discuss how many jobs were given to Telangana?” he asked.
‘BJP blocking BC quota bill on religious lines’
The BJP is doing injustice to BCs, Mahesh Goud said. “You are blocking the BC reservation bill in the name of Muslim reservations. What answer do you have for the presence of Muslims in BCs in the States where your party is in power?” he asked.
“If there is no reservation for Muslims there, what is wrong with doing it here? Aren’t there poor people among Muslims? Shouldn’t they get justice?” he added.
‘BJP unable to answer questions about vote theft’
He said that the BJP is unable to answer Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft, even though evidence has been put forth.
Farmers are suffering due to urea shortage, but the Union Minister is unable to take the initiative to speak up, he said.
