TPCC chief Mahesh Goud starts district tours across Telangana to energise party cadre

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud kicked off a series of extensive district tours aimed at strengthening the Congress party across Telangana.

This move comes on the heels of the newly announced District Congress Committee (DCC) lists and signals the party’s shift into high gear for future electoral challenges.

Strengthening the grassroots

The primary objective of these tours is to streamline party coordination from the village level to the district headquarters.

Goud said that the tours aim to:

Mobilise the Cadre: Infuse new energy into party workers and review local political landscapes.

Promote Welfare: Ensure that the State government’s welfare schemes are effectively reaching the intended beneficiaries.

Strategic Planning: Formulate a robust action plan to counter opposition narratives and build public trust.

Drug menace and BRS connection claims

During a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, the TPCC Chief launched a blistering attack on the BRS leadership regarding recent drug-related controversies.

Congratulating the newly appointed government whips, Goud pivoted quickly to the state’s crackdown on narcotics. “Our government is committed to making Telangana a drug-free state. We are cracking down hard, and the results are visible,” Goud stated.

He raised serious allegations involving high-profile figures, claiming:

- A former BRS MLA and an MP were reportedly caught in raids conducted by enforcement teams.

- Allegations were made regarding drug-related activities involving the inner circle of a prominent BRS youth leader.

- Goud specifically pointed to an incident at a farmhouse linked to KTR’s family and referenced the tragic death of a close associate, Kedar, in Dubai due to a drug overdose.

Exposing the ‘BJP-BRS secret alliance’

The TPCC President questioned the conspicuous silence of the BJP leadership regarding these drug scandals. He alleged a ‘clandestine merger’ between the BRS and the BJP, suggesting they are working in tandem rather than as an opposition.

“Why is the BJP remaining silent when so many BRS leaders are being implicated? Even when leaders like Raghunandan speak up, they are quickly silenced. It’s clear that BRS is effectively merging into the BJP,” Goud remarked.

BJP is not a champion for BCs

Goud further dismissed the BJP's claims of being champions for the Backward Classes (BCs), citing the internal politics of the saffron party:

He highlighted how veteran leader Bandaru Dattatreya was allegedly sidelined, first losing his Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat to BJP MP Kishan Reddy, and later seeing his influence wane.

He noted the replacement of Bandi Sanjay with Kishan Reddy as State President as further proof of ‘upper-caste dominance’ within the BJP.

“It is truly ironic to hear BJP leaders talk about BCs while they systematically displace their own BC leaders. Unlike them, the Congress government is implementing every promise made to the BC community, one by one,” he added.

A call to action

As Mahesh Kumar Goud begins his district tours, the political temperature in Telangana is set to rise. By linking the drug issue to the BRS and alleging a secret pact with the BJP, the TPCC chief is looking to consolidate the Congress’s position as the sole fighting force for the people of Telangana.
