`Trash’: KTR dismisses Ghosh Commission report on Kaleshwaram project; alleges Congress-BJP `nexus’
Hyderabad: Dismissing P.C. Ghosh Commission report on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project as `trash’, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday accused the Congress of collaborating with the BJP to sabotage the state’s critical irrigation lifeline.
Speaking at Gun Park Martyrs’ Memorial with BRS legislators, KTR alleged that the ruling party deliberately silenced the Opposition in the Assembly.
Opposition voices silenced in Assembly
KTR said, “Our members were not allowed to speak. Even when Harish Rao tried to raise valid points, the Chief Minister and Ministers shouted him down. The Speaker acted as though nothing was amiss.” He claimed this was part of a broader strategy to stifle dissent and prevent a fair discussion on Kaleshwaram.
Kaleshwaram: A Project of National significance
Highlighting the project's importance, KTR described Kaleshwaram as the world’s largest lift irrigation scheme and a vital resource for thousands of farmers in Telangana. “We will not allow any attempt to sabotage this project. If necessary, we will take the fight to the people through a mass movement,” he warned.
Alleged inflation of figures, political motives
KTR alleged that Congress deliberately inflated figures to create a false narrative of corruption. “Repairs to the Medigadda barrage will cost only Rs 350 crore, yet the government claims losses of Rs 1 lakh crore. Even Revanth Reddy’s own relatives are questioning how Rs 94,000 crore suddenly became Rs 1 lakh crore,” he said.
He further accused the Commission of bias, saying it violated the Commission of Enquiry Act and was prepared only to malign BRS and K. Chandrashekar Rao. “This is not a Ghosh report; it is a Trash report. The Congress has no sincerity, only conspiracies,” KTR remarked.
Alleges Congress and BJP collusion
KTR claimed that the Congress and BJP were working together to tarnish Telangana’s progress. “In no other state does the NDMA investigate every mishap. However, even minor issues are blown out of proportion here. This is a political conspiracy,” he said.
BRS vows to fight report in court
KTR confirmed that the party would continue its legal battle against the report and would soon decide on the next steps. “The people of Telangana know who fought for water, funds, and jobs. They also know the difference between decades of neglect under Congress and the development achieved under BRS,” he concluded.
