TRS MLA Shankar Nayak snatches mike from MP Kavitha; video goes viral

Hyderabad: A video of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA Banoth Shankar Nayak of Mahabubabad snatching a mike from party MP Maloth Kavitha is going viral.

An ugly spat broke out between MLA and MP during a protest in Mahabubabad.

It's a known fact that MLA Shankar Nayak who represents the Mahabubabad assembly constituency and MP Kavitha representing Mahabubabad parliamentary constituency are at loggerheads for quite some time.

As per the instructions of the party chief and CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, Shankar and Kavitha were participating in a dharna over the paddy issue. When TRS MP Kavitha was addressing the gathering, TRS MLA Shankar Naik stood on the stage and snatched the microphone from the MP, saying he would speak. The party leaders and workers were stunned by his behavior.

The differences between Shankar Nayak representing the Mahabubabad constituency and MP M Kavitha representing the Mahabubabad parliament constituency came out in the open when party leaders were participating in a dharna demanding that the union government procure the entire paddy of the state's farmers.

A seemingly humiliated Kavitha later took part in the dharna but has complained to senior leadership about the behavior of the MLA.

It should be recalled that in 2017, Nayak was arrested for misbehaving with the then-woman district collector.

The issue was brought to the knowledge of CM KCR by the IAS Association, following which the MLA was booked under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
