Venue for Hyderabad mega rally evades Congress; Tukkuguda farmers come to rescue

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress Party’s search for a venue for its September 17 mega rally and meeting is finally over as farmers are providing private land for the event. Congress leaders said that the party will announce five guarantees for the upcoming Telangana elections during the mega rally.

Search for the venue

The search for a suitable venue for the mega rally for the Congress party has been long. Many of their desired venues were not given to them.

- Parade Ground at Secunderabad: The venue is not available on September 17 as the Central government will be observing Telangana Liberation Day on the day. The army defence has rejected the application of the Congress Party for using the grounds citing this reason.

- Gachibowli Stadium: The sports authority has informed the party that the venue is not available.

- Tukkuguda open land: The land is not available for political meetings as it is adjacent to temple lands. The Congress has blamed the state government for not providing access to the ground.

- Tukkuguda private land: The farmers associated with the Congress party have agreed to give their land for the mega meeting of the Congress party. They will be giving access to 100 acres of land, close to the Outer Ring Road near Shamshabad. A mega rally will be organised there on September 17.

Congress September 16-17 meet in Hyderabad

On September 16, a meeting of the All India Congress Committee and Congress Working Committee members will be held in Taj Krishna. During the day-long meeting in Hyderabad, the party leaders would decide the course of action for the upcoming Assembly elections and the general elections in 2024.

September 17 will be observed by the Congress party as Telangana Migration Day. The mega rally and day-long meetings will be held on this day in Hyderabad. The Congress will be releasing its five guarantees for women, farmers, unemployed youth, minorities and Old City residents of Hyderabad. It will distribute guarantee cards to the people and seek their votes for the upcoming Telangana elections.

43 lakh digital membership

The Telangana Congress party states that the party has received 43 lakh digital members, the highest in recent times. “The membership allows us to express confidence that if we get 90 lakh votes, we can win 90 seats in the state,” said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Revanth Reddy. “The meetings in Hyderabad and outskirts are being tampered with by both Bharatiya Janta Party and Bharath Rashtra Samithi,” alleged Reddy. “Both BJP and BRS are conspiring to defeat Congress party in the state,” says Revanth Reddy.

Congress leaders meet the director general of police to apprise them of the security required for the senior Congress leaders and the chief ministers of state governments. The DGP has promised full cooperation for the meeting, stated senior Congress party leaders.

Just like how devotees take up a strict routine for Ayyappa and Shiva, Revanth Reddy asked the cadre of the Telangana Congress to devote themselves towards bringing the party back to power. He asked the cadre to devote themselves to the party, put in full effort and energy and wear Soniamma shawls to work hard.
