What about MLA chori?’ KTR slams Rahul Gandhi’s silence on BRS defections
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of maintaining a ‘conspiratorial silence’ over the recent defections of BRS legislators to the Congress.
‘Shameful MLA Chori’
KTR pointed out the apparent hypocrisy, saying, “While Rahul Gandhi often raises the issue of ‘vote chori’ in national politics, he has failed to speak against the brazen ‘MLA chori’ happening in Telangana.
Rahul Gandhi should be ashamed of this undemocratic and unconstitutional practice. This is a crime worse than vote chori.”
KTR demands Rahul Gandhi’s response
The BRS leader demanded that Rahul Gandhi respond to statements made by defected MLAs, who, despite winning on BRS tickets and later joining Congress, now claim they had not switched parties.
“The Congress party’s role in this shameless chori proves its double standards. Rahul Gandhi must answer,” he said.
Pictures, scarves, and contradictions
KTR recalled that several of these MLAs were seen draped in Congress scarves and posed for photographs with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, images that circulated widely on social media by Congress leaders.
“You draped them in the Congress scarf and now say they never joined? Do you still stand by this denial?” he asked.
Warning on democratic erosion
Posing a series of questions to Rahul Gandhi, KTR added, “If this is not MLA chori, then what is it? How is this any less serious than vote chori? Are you not ashamed of your complicity in such political hypocrisy?”
He warned that such defections undermine democracy and erode public trust, accusing the Congress government of indulging in unconstitutional tactics instead of focusing on people’s issues.
