New Delhi: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud challenged BJP MPs to have a political career in Telangana without the help of members from the BC communities.

He was speaking at Jantar Mantar here during the protests for 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes.

“Can Kishan Reddy even file a nomination in Secunderabad without the support of SCs, STs and BCs?” asked MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud.

“Bandi Sanjay won on the name of BCs, and now he is shamelessly backing Kishan Reddy,” accused Goud.

‘BJP uses religion to get votes’

Goud further added, “Winning elections by using religion has become a habit for Kishan Reddy and BJP leaders.”

Goud pointed out how in Gujarat, the BJP gave reservations to Muslims but in other States, they are opposing the same.

“Kishan Reddy, watch the video where your Prime Minister says reservations will be given to Muslims in Gujarat. Study the reservation provisions for Muslims in Uttar Pradesh too,” he said.

‘Why are Telangana BJP MLAs going back?’

Goud asked, “Why are Telangana BJP MLAs, who voted in favour of the BC Bill in the Telangana Assembly, now backtracking?” Leaders from all communities in Telangana are supporting the cause of BCs, he said.

Speaking about the visit to Delhi, Goud said, “CM Revanth Reddy and Cabinet ministers are here to give a clear picture to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the bill.”

Kamareddy declaration

According to Congress’ poll promise made during the Telangana Elections 2023, the BC reservation was fulfilled but the BJP is now opposing it, claimed Goud.

“To highlight the plight of BCs at the Centre, we launched this maha dharna with the slogan ‘One Voice... One Vision... United BCs’,” he said.
