With eye on elections, TDP kickstarts two-day Mahanadu in Rajahmundry.

Rajahmundry: Telugu Desam Party’s two-day Mahanadu began on Saturday at Vemagiri on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram.

A large dais has been set up at the venue that will see more than 300 party leaders, including TDP Politburo members, general secretaries, party in-charges of 175 Assembly, and 25 Lok Sabha segments and other leaders, take part. TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh took a break from his Yuva Galam Padayatra which entered Kadapa district.

During the two-day event, the TDP is likely to release the draft manifesto with a special focus on the empowerment of youth and women, besides the welfare of farmers.

Digital screens, parking, and dining facilities have been arranged at the 200-acre Vemagiri grounds. A blood donation camp and photo exhibition were set up at the Mahanadu.

Observing that the late NT Rama Rao, the founder of TDP, brought global recognition for the Telugu society, the party’s national president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, said, “We are descendants of such a great leader.”

Maintaining that this Mahanadu is historic as on the one hand it marks the birth centenary of the late NT Rama Rao and on the other, 42 years of the party’s formation, Mr. Naidu gave a call to the party leaders and cadre to take the Telugu society to the top level.

Making it clear that the TDP is ready to face the elections even if they are held much in advance or as per schedule, Mr. Naidu said the party will always work to create assets and distribute them to the poor. “Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sole aim is that only he should be rich but my aim is that the poor should become rich, and the drivers for this is the TDP cadre,” he said.

The former chief minister said the coming war is like Kurukshetra and the cadre should strive to defeat the Kauravas. The TDP supremo said all major issues will come up for discussion at the two-day conclave.
