YS Sharmila stopped from visiting Gajwel, put under house arrest
In protest against the police action, Sharmila performed an ‘aarti’ to the police, praying that they be given wisdom and righteousness

She was stopped by the police and was not allowed to leave her house. Gajwel constituency is represented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Sharmila had announced her visit to Teegul village, where some members of the Dalit community held a protest alleging that they were not allotted the Dalit Bandhu scheme despite being eligible for it. They had even burnt the effigy of CM KCR. Sharmila had said that she would visit the village to question the government on the issue.
In protest against the police action, Sharmila performed an ‘aarti’ to the police, praying that they be given wisdom and righteousness. She also staged a flash dharna at her Lotus Pond residence.
Sharmila accused CM KCR of targeting her and the YSRTP. She said CM was scared that her visit to Teegul village would expose his misdeeds and deception.
In a statement, Sharmila said, “It is shameful to note that KCR continues to target me when I decided to visit his constituency where hapless Dalits were protesting against him for his failures. It is unacceptable that the police have let off the BRS goons who have threatened my party workers and me. I pray that the police will uphold the Constitution and not KCR.”
Sharmila also tweeted, “House arresting us who were going to know the problems of Gajwel people is proof of KCR’s dictatorial rule. He is not eligible to sit in the Chief Minister’s chair as he cannot implement even a single scheme properly. In his own constituency, only 38,000 Dalits out of 17 lakhs have received Dalit Bandhu so far. MLAs are looting 3 to 5 lakhs from every beneficiary. Dalit Bandhu has been turned into a scheme for followers. (sic)”
