Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief Y.S Sharmila on Friday announced that she will contest from Palair constituency in the upcoming elections. Sharmila said she is emotionally connected to the people of the constituency who always loved her father, the late Dr. YSR.
Speaking after performing the ceremony for her party office in the constituency in Khammam district, she symbolically held the soil of the region and vowed to stand by the people of Palair.
Recalling late Dr. YSR's contributions to Palair, Shamila said Palair reservoir was repaired during his tenure and more than 20,000 houses for the poor were constructed and delivered in the constituency.
She said through the Nagarjuna Sagar and SRSP, 2.7 lakh acres of land benefitted thanks to YSR's efforts. Around 108 villages in various mandals received safe drinking water and through power subsidies and granite factories, he ensured that all sections benefited.
YSR always gave prominence to the constituency and ensured that all schemes, including Arogyasri, minority reservations, fees reimbursement, and free power reached the poor, she added.
She asked, "Did KCR construct even 1,000 houses? To how many acres of land did he give water to?" She alleged that KCR's rule rang death bells for the granite industry in the region after power subsidies were withdrawn.
Further, Sharmila vowed to continue the schemes of her late father.
