Narayana Educational Institutions is a prominent institution in the education sector of Andhra Pradesh, comprising various schools, junior colleges (+2), and professional colleges. Allegations have recently surfaced regarding the company allegedly collecting personal data from the family members of students enrolled in their educational establishments.
The party has requested the CEO to give directions to the Narayana Educational Institutions and its promoters and staff to hand over all the data collected from the students, punish and debar P Narayana and any other persons allegedly responsible for the act and those connected with the theft of personal data if found to be true.
The party requested the CEO to take criminal action under the Representation of People Act, 1950, the Representation of People Act, 1951, the Indian Penal Code, and the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for conducting clean, free and fair elections, and under Article 19 and 21 of Constitution of India against the Narayana Educational Institutions, and its promoters and the persons who are behind the said ‘illegal, heinous, unconstitutional and criminal acts’ by conducting a detailed enquiry.
The founder of Narayana Educational Institutions, Dr P Narayana, is an educationist and an active politician. Having served as a former member of the Legislative Council and minister in the council of ministers for Andhra Pradesh, Dr P Narayana is currently participating in Andhra Pradesh politics and is an active member of the Telugu Desam Party, presently in opposition. Sources said he plans to contest the upcoming election in the Nellore constituency, Nellore District, on a Telugu Desam Party ticket.
He has also been named in several criminal cases, with some raising serious concerns about the integrity of the educational institution and its founder.
