YSRCP phone tapping row: MP Adala Prabhakar Reddy appointed Nellore rural in-charge

Nellore: YSRCP leader and MP Adala Prabhakar Reddy has been appointed as the constituency in-charge of the Nellore rural constituency. YSRCP general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, during a media conference, said Prabhakar Reddy will contest as YSRCP candidate in the next elections.

This comes after Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy accused the ruling government of tapping his phones. Mr. Kotamreddy hinted at leaving the party, saying he will not contest the next general elections on a YSRCP ticket. For the last few days, Mr. Kotamreddy has made adverse remarks against the police intelligence wing, accusing them of tapping his phone, and resigned from the party.

“I have been aware of the surveillance on me for quite some time and have been using different phones. Intelligence and Special Branch personnel are also monitoring the activities of some of the MLAs' offices,” Mr. Kotamreddy told the media. He alleged that three personnel from the Intelligence department were attending his press conferences and tapping his phone for the past four months.

“About 35 ruling party MLAs and four MPs called me and said their phones are being tapped by state government agencies. It’s just that I brought the issue out. My phone is being tapped for the last four months,” the MLA added. He continued, “I cannot stay in a party that has no trust in me. I will soon make a statement regarding my political future. I have been loyal to the YSR family for the last 30 years and was with CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at all times. But it is unfortunate that the party is suspecting its own MLAs.”

Later, senior YSRC MLA Anam Ramnarayana Reddy representing the Venkatagiri Assembly constituency in Tirupati district also accused the ruling party of tapping his phone.
