YSRCP records drop in donations, receives Rs 8.92 Cr against Rs 181 Cr last year

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party has received a donation of Rs 8.92 Crore for 2019-2020.

A comparison from the previous year's report revealed that the contributions have nosedived from Rs 181 Crore which includes money raised through electoral bonds to Rs 8. 92 Crore in 2020. However, it is pertinent to mention that 2019 was an election year which could also be a reason for the flow of high donations.

NewsMeter has accessed the YSRC party's contribution statement submitted to the election commission of India. The regional party has delayed submission of the report by months with the final date being the end of September. For the year 2020, a total of 47 donors including companies and individuals contributed. Interestingly a high number of top donors hails from Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad.

Hyderabad couple, Arimenda Vijaya Sarada Reddy and Arimenda Varaprasad Reddy have contributed Rs 1.2 Crore. JSR Infra developers, whose head office is located in Vellore, donated Rs 2. 5 Crore, the highest. The donors are a mix of companies and individuals.

The report also revealed not many donors from Bengaluru like the previous years. It is to be noted that YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy owns many properties and companies in the IT hub.

1. JSR infra developers Private limited in Vellore – Rs 2.50 Crore

2. P Sivakumar Reddy from Nellore – Rs 1 crore

3. Arimenda Vijaya Sarada Reddy – Rs 60 lakhs

4. Arimenda Varaprasad Reddy – Rs 60 lakhs

5. Bhaskar Rao G V – Rs 50 lakhs

6. Siva Enterprises –Rs 50 lakhs

7. Kences Constructions Pvt Ltd- Rs 49 lakhs

8. Sree Lakshmi Electrical Services – Rs 25 lakhs

9. IB Infra Developers – Rs 25 lakhs

10. United Telelinks (Banglore) limited – Rs 25 lakhs

The contribution received by the YSRC party is in excess of Rs 20,000. The amount would be higher if the donations of less than Rs 20000 will be taken into consideration.

Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP receives Rs 100.504 Cr donation from 'undisclosed channel' in 2018-19

The party received Rs 100.504 Crore donation from 'undisclosed channel' in 2018-19, revealed an analysis of funding sources.

This means the party has concealed the details of donors. In a revelation of sorts, 23 regional parties received a whopping Rs 481.276 Crore from 'unknown sources' in 2019.

Out of the 23, YSRCP scores silver for receiving the second-highest funding from an undisclosed source, while BJD bagged gold with Rs 213.543 Crore.

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), an election watch body studied the income tax returns and donation statement of regional parties for the financial year 2018-19.

Cutting across all parties, it was found that a substantial amount of funds could not be traced and are from 'unknown' sources'. In total, YSRCP received a whopping Rs 181 crore in form of donations, electoral bond, and trust for the financial year ending 31st March 2019. The contributions saw a jump by 11 times against the Rs 14.23 crore received in the previous year.
