Pregnant woman, 3YO son killed after boulders rolled through her home in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: A pregnant woman and her three-year-old son were crushed to death when rolling boulders hit their house at Ganapathinagar in Visakhapatnam city.
The deceased were identified as K Ramalakshmi and her son Gnaneswar Babu.
The incident took place on Sunday night when the woman and her family members were sleeping at their home located near a hill in the city.
Locals said that boulders came rolling down on to their house. The woman and her son were killed on the spot. Ramalakshmi's husband and mother suffered injuries in the incident.
Based on the information, the Gajuwaka police along with the officials of Fire Service, GVMC, Revenue, and few other departments rushed to the spot and launched the rescue operation.
Police retrieved the bodies and shifted them to the morgue for post mortem.
Injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Heavy rains have been lashing parts of the Vizag city since Sunday. Police evacuated some families residing near the hills as a precautionary measure.
In December 2015, four people belonging to two families were crushed to death when a huge boulder hit their house at Sanjeevaiah Nagar Colony of the Thatichetlapalem area in Vizag city.
