Priest dies leaving Rs 6 lakhs hidden in bales

Hyderabad: In a strange, but true incident, a priest died leaving Rs 6 lakhs at his residence in Tuni, East Godavari district. The priest was identified as Appala Subhramanyam, 70 and the incident came to light after he died on Tuesday due to illness.

The amount found was what he earned during his 30 years of service in Tuni.

On learning about his death, residents in the locality tried calling his friends and family, but no one responded. After informing the priest's friends the residents performed the last rites of on Wednesday.

Later the residents went to his rundown residence found many bales in his house. On opening the bales, they found vast amounts of cash, which left them in shock.

The residents began counting the money but since the amount was huge they had to bring in a counting machine. By 6 pm on Wednesday, the amounted counted was about Rs 6 lakhs. Residents say many bundles are yet to be opened and counted.
