`Punk’ Kiara Advani returns to Netflix with `Guilty’
By Newsmeter Network Published on 19 Feb 2020 5:00 AM GMTHyderabad: After making a huge splash with ‘Lust Stories’, actress Kiara Advani will soon be seen in Netflix original movie titled 'Guilty'.
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic, digital content arm of Dharma Productions, Guilty has been directed by Ruchi Narain.
Confirming Kaira’s return to Netflix, Karan Johar tweeted: “@advani_kiara …a raw poetic playlist and a mystery – aap convince ho gaye ya aur bataun? #Guilty trailer out tomorrow”.
Attached to the tweet was the first look poster of the web-series, featuring a punk Kaira in multi-colored hair, sporting a face tattoo and a septum piercing.
Joining Kiara on-screen will be actors Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and Taher Shabbir. “Guilty explores the different versions of truth that emerge when a small-town girl accuses the college heartthrob of rape. Seen through the eyes of his musician girlfriend (Advani), this story makes us question who is truly ‘guilty' in such circumstances,” Netflix said.
The official handle of Netflix India also shared the poster on Instagram. "If looks could kill, @kiaraaliaadvani would have to plead #Guilty. Trailer drops tomorrow," the caption said.
On June 25 last year, Karan Johar made an announcement about 'Guilty' in a long post on Instagram. He had also praised Kaira and thanked Netflix.
This seemingly fearless character of Kiara is in complete contrast to her last role of a meek and submissive 'Preeti', opposite Shahid Kapoor in 'Kabir Singh'. The 2019 'Kabir Singh' was Hindi remake of Sandeep Reddy Vanga drama 'Arjun Reddy'.
Kiara was first seen in the comedy film 'Fugly'. Later she received love and success for her brief role in 2016 sports biopic 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. She has also played a prominent role in 2018 Telugu political drama Bharat Ane Nenu.
