Rachakonda police arrested man for posting morphed picture of woman on Instagram
By Renoj Roy Published on 17 Jan 2020 2:48 PM GMTHyderabad: Rachakonda Cyber Police arrested a 20-year-old man for posting morphed pictures of a girl on Instagram on Friday.
According to the police, the accused Narra Akshay, a 20-year-old B-Tech student residing at Lalaguda created a fake account on Instagram to get acquainted with the victim. He sent her a follow request as she had a private account. On accepting the request, the accused downloaded photos from her account and uploaded in his fake account. He also morphed a picture of her face with a nude body and posted on the account. As the victim took serious cognizance for it, he uploaded another similarly morphed picture. Later, the accused deleted all the images and the account to hide the evidence.
The family of the victim had filed a complaint regarding the stalking and harassment on Instagram. Both the accused and victim were schoolmates.
The accused is charged under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman), Section 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation) and Section 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of IPC and Section 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of IT Act.
The police have cautioned the public not to accept friend requests by strangers on Social Media to avoid any complications.
