By Bhartendu Sharma Published on 13 Aug 2019 4:48 PM GMTDelhi: In another initiative, Railways has introduced a biometric-based token system to make travel convenient and hassle-free for the passengers traveling in General class which will help to manage the crowd at stations.
This is for the first time, Indian Railways has introduced such initiative. The biometric machines will record information of passengers and provide tokens. This token system was first introduced on the Pushpak Express.
How will this system work?
Token distribution will start 60 to 90 minutes before departure of trains and it will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Also, for getting a token, a fingerprint will have to be provided at the vending counter.
Token distribution will take place through a counter on the platform and will be managed by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), that will be kept under CCTV surveillance.
