Railways to run 300 Shramik Special trains per day to ferry migrant laborers

The Railways stated that it can run 300 Shramik Special trains per day.
Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry has directed the district collectors to prepare a list of stranded laborers and destination.
A release from the ministry stated that Indian Railways is ready to run Shramik Special trains from all the districts across the country.
Full capacity Operationalisation of the railways would provide significant relief to the migrants who want to return to their home states. Indian Railways is ready to augment the Shramik Special trains as per the actual needs of the districts.
Till Saturday, more than 15 lakh migrants have been transported by the Railways to their home states. So far 1150 Shramik Special trains have been operationalized.
Indian Railways can easily transport almost double the number of migrants per day. Once the information about migrants wishing to return to their home states is made available, Indian Railways can take further action to operationalize the trains.
There are at least 3.50 lakh migrants of different states in Telangana. The state government has announced to run 40 trains per day to transport them home. So far, 60,000 migrant workers, most of them working in Hyderabad and surrounding areas, have been transported.
