Rajinikanth richest celebrity from South India in Forbes list

Chennai: Forbes Top 100 celebrity list for 2019 is out and guess who has come out on top. It is none other than our beloved Rajinikanth. India’s Thalaiva has emerged as the richest celebrity from South cinema and overall 13th across India. In the previous year, Rajinikanth figures at the 14th spot.
In a tweet, Forbes India wrote, “‘Thalaiva’ @rajinikanth is the richest celebrity from the South cinema on the #ForbesIndiaCeleb100 list, which includes actors from Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam film industries. With estimated earnings of Rs100 crore, he climbed one spot to No 13, riding on back-to-back hits.”
Others in this list are Indian cricketer Virat Kohli followed by actors Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan respectively. Other South Indian stars such as Mohanlal and Prabhas follow Rajinikanth. Big stars such as Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, and Mozart of Madras AR Rahman have also been placed in this list earlier.
The 2019 Forbes India Celebrity 100 List rankings are done on estimates of earnings through professions, endorsements, media visibility, and estimates of their fame. Apart from Rajinikanth, there are 13 other celebrities from South this year — actor Vijay is at 47. The number of women in this list has gone up this year to 30 from 17 in 2018. The number of South Indian stars making it to the top 100 rankings fell from 15 in 2018 to 13 in 2019.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for his 168th film with Siva. His upcoming movie Darbar, directed by AR Murugadoss, will hit screens this January.
