Bapatla: Playtime turned tragic for a boy who died after he was electrocuted on a tree while another boy had a lucky escape.
According to sources, on Sunday, children were playing near the temple at Daivalaravu village. Two boys climbed an almond tree. Eleven-year-old Akhil was electrocuted after he came in contact with an 11 KV electric wire. He died on spot.
Another boy, Jo Babu, who was holding Akhilās hand fell down. Locals immediately took him to the nearby private hospital.
As the electric wires were near to the tree, locals couldnāt get close to it. Akhilās body was hanging on the tree for a long time. The electricity department officials were informed. They visited the spot and cut the power supply.
Akhilās father carried his sonās body and took him to the hospital.
Locals accused the electricity department officials of negligence for failing to chop down the trees that are close to electric wires.
