Andhra Pradesh: Two more Omicron cases were reported in Andhra Pradesh taking the total tally to six cases.
A 48-year- male traveller of Prakasam district came from South Africa to Hyderabad on December 16 and then went to Ongole. His sample was collected on 19 December and was declared Covid positive. His sample was sent to CCMB, Hyderabad for genome sequencing, and the result was declared as Omicron Positive on 25 December. He is healthy and in quarantine under close observation of the health department.
A 51-year- male from Anantapur came from the UK to Bangalore Airport on 18 December. He was tested Covid positive on 21 December. His samples were referred to CCMB, Hyderabad for genome sequencing, and the result was declared as Omicron positive on 25 December. He is healthy and in quarantine under close observation of the health department.
All their primary and secondary contacts are tested and found negative.
According to the Director of Public Health, Dr. Hymavathi, a total of 67 international travellers and 12 contacts were found Covid-19 positive, and all the samples were sent for genome sequencing.
The DPH advised the public not to worry and believe any rumours but continue to take precautions and follow social distancing, wearing a mask, washing hands regularly.
